General Travel Questions

A travel agent is a travel professional. We spend our time keeping up to date with destinations, resorts, and sales. We are part of a travel professional network with connections on various levels to help ensure our clients have the best vacation possible. And because of our long standing relationships with suppliers, we have access to the best pricing and selection, as well as contacts at the resort where you are traveling to, in case we need to get in touch with them for any reason on your behalf. At Five Star Travel Group, we don’t charge service fees. In fact, the price of using a booking agent is worked into every trip whether it is booked with your personal travel agent or company call center.

Of course you could do it yourself, but why in the world would you want to? Rather than spend hours on the internet and hours on the phone trying to find the best prices for the best itineraries and still end up wondering if you really got the best deal, all you have to do is contact us. We’ll do all of that for you – at no cost to you! Talk about a no-brainer. In addition, our travel experts, all of who are graduates of the College of Disney Knowledge, already have at their fingertips all of the information necessary to plan your dream vacation. There’s no need for you to attempt to wade through the sea of information (and misinformation!) that’s available to get the best vacation possible at the best possible price. Let us arrange your ultimate vacation, and all you need to do is sit back, relax, and prepare for the most unforgettable trip you’ve ever taken!

No, it does not. Five Star Travel Group doesn’t charge service fees. The price of your vacation should be the same or less as booking on your own. Agents have access to special pricing and perks that consumers cannot get on their own. We add as much value to your vacation as possible!

Because all resorts and cruise lines have such varied and extensive offerings, trying to produce a “one-size-fits-all” vacation does little to satisfy most travelers. We prefer a more personalized approach where we get to know YOU and your traveling preferences. Whether you are an all-out, pack-every-minute-full vacationer or someone who prefers to stop and smell the roses occasionally, we will custom-fit a vacation to your exact preferences. Our friendly agents are never pushy or overbearing. In fact, we consider ourselves customer service agents. We are working for you, to help you weed through the mountains of offerings to find the best fit for your family! That’s what we do best. We won’t try to sell you anything you don’t need or want. We just want to help.

While it can vary depending on what type of vacation you are taking, as well as how soon you will be traveling, typically a deposit is made towards your trip to secure your plans. The balance is due anywhere from a few months to 30 days before you travel. Your agent will let you know what your trip requires. Between deposit and final payment, in most cases, you can make multiple payments through your agent, just by reaching out and letting them know.

Travel protection is just that – it protects the investment you are putting into your vacation. Unexpected things can happen, so it’s best to have travel protection in place so you can relax and enjoy your vacation. Your health insurance is not always accepted outside of the U.S., so you will need medical coverage that is included with your travel insurance. Nobody needs insurance until they NEED it. Just like you wouldn’t drive your car without insurance, you don’t want to travel without it either.

Simply put, ocean view means you can see the sea from your resort window or balcony. To what degree, can vary from resort to resort. You may have to lean over and turn your head to view the sea! Ocean front means that the sea is straight out in front of your room!

If you are approached in any way by someone trying to sell you any type of time share, please feel free to say NO to them. Five Star Travel Group will NEVER sign you up for any timeshare presentations. It will never be a required element of your package booked with Five Star Travel Group, no matter what they try and tell you. Just say no!

All efforts were made ahead of time by the agent to communicate directly with the resort with any special requests, including, but not limited to: location of room on resort, bedding choices, connecting or adjoining rooms, ground or upper floor, etc. Requests are not a guarantee, simply a request. If you should arrive and not be satisfied with anything about your room, please first go to the front desk and ask for a manager. If you have tried that and still need assistance, feel free to call your agent. Ultimately, the onsite front desk will usually be much more helpful and faster because they are onsite with you.

There will be a concierge or tour desk where you can book tours once you are at your resort. You can also pre-book tours for resort stays by visiting the Island Routes website. They have excursions for most Caribbean destinations.

If you are going on a cruise, you may book excursions ahead of time by logging into your account for the cruise line or by contacting your agent. If you are traveling to Europe, speak with your agent about what you would like to do and see and arrangements can be made for you.

Once you are at a destination, the best thing to do is seek help from guest services on property. If you feel like you are not getting satisfactory results, contact your agent.

Simply contact your agent and we can help you to make changes or cancelations that you need. Five Star Travel Group never charges for cancelled or altered vacations. However, not all funds may be returned to you based on the terms and conditions of your package.

Put your mind at ease – you’re on vacation! We’ll do everything we can to make sure that all the details are taken care of before you leave, but we’re still available should something unexpected occur once you’ve begun your trip. Your agent will provide you with contact information that will allow you to get in touch with us quickly in the event of unforeseen problems. Our top priority is to make sure that you have the best vacation possible, and that commitment to you does not end after your reservation is booked. We’ll be with you the whole way – right up until you return!

Flight Questions

Air is a fluid component to trips. It can fluctuate daily as well as during the day. There is no secret day or time of day to get the best air price. Prices are determined by the airline and they control what they do with them. As planes fill up, prices increase. If you are traveling over a holiday, I wouldn’t delay. Most likely prices will only increase. Keeping travel dates flexible can help with finding better airfare prices.

As of May 3, 2023, you will need a REAL ID or other government approved (passport) to fly domestically. Click on this link to the TSA website for full details: https://www.tsa.gov/real-id

You need a passport to travel outside of the United States. If you are sailing on a closed loop cruise, a state issued birth certificate and photo ID will suffice. We always recommend you travel with a passport, even on cruises. If there is some sort of emergency and you need to fly home, it WILL require a passport. Best advice: Don’t leave your country without a passport.

Traveling with children outside of the United States: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) strongly recommends that unless the child is accompanied by both parents, the adult have a note from the child’s other parent (or, in the case of a child traveling with grandparents, uncles or aunts, sisters or brothers, friends, or in groups, a note signed by both parents) stating “I acknowledge that my wife/husband/etc. is traveling out of the country with my son/daughter/group. He/She/They has/have my permission.” In this letter you will also want to have permission to make medical decisions for the child while abroad. Having the letter notarized is not always necessary but highly recommended. Any other relevant paperwork, such as a court decision, birth certificate naming only one parent, death certificate, etc., would be useful. Adults traveling with children should also be aware that, while the U.S. does not require this documentation, other countries may have a requirement and failure to produce notarized permission letters and/or birth certificates could result in travelers being refused entry (Canada has very strict requirements in this regard).

If your flight is cancelled, and you are not immediately placed on another flight, go to the desk at the airport. While in line, contact the airline via phone to increase a speedy resolution. Your agent is available to help, but you will have faster results taking care of it on site.

As an added level of security, TSA will randomly select passengers that have to scan their passports at the airport and not be able to check in online or print boarding passes. It’s not a problem and doesn’t mean that anything is wrong. Just an extra layer of protection, keeping everyone safe!
